Vegan in Paris: Au Grain de Folie
The one week vegan challenge has been slightly difficult here in Paris. As diverse a population as it has, you would think there would be more vegetarian and vegan restaurants but nope! I have only found a few listed on blogs and such so I am on a mission to try them all and hopefully, find more. Speaking of blogs though, I have been loving the recipes on Oh She Glows. YUM
While vintage shopping in Montmartre the other day, I tried my first Vegetarian restaurant, Au Grain de Folie.
24 rue la Vieuville
The place is small inside but charming. You feel as though you are walking right into someones cozy little dining room. There were 6 small tables, you could see back into the kitchen, and there were tiny bags of herbal tea mixes on the wall. I had the jasmine tea and it was absolutely delicious.
The Menu was simple. There was a soup of the day, some small starters, the mains, and salads. All of them had vegan and vegetarian options. I tried to snap a photo but the quality isn’t all that great. You get the idea though, very simple.
The food was amazing. The mains all consisted of the same vegetables and grains and then you chose what you wanted from the special selections. I ordered the seitan option and my friend had the humus. We were full by the end of it and honestly, everything had so much flavour!
I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for good vegan and vegetarian in Paris. The place is extremely casual and homey so do not expect anything else!
